Dynamic Lairs: Ape, White

13 Jun

“A dynamic lair is a small dungeon or lair, created in advance like a point of interest, which includes 1-3 encounters.” ACKS page 236.

Continuing the series of Dynamic Lairs. Last week was the Ant, Giant. This week, the White Ape.

Caves of the White Devils

Heavy tracks lead to a shallow cave, with tunnels partially hidden by dead bushes and brambles pulled inside (treat as a concealed door, +4 to searches). The tunnel leads to three small caves, where a den of White Apes lair. They raid nearby farms, mostly carrying off livestock, but have recently have been targeting the farmers themselves. Two have been killed and dragged off to the caves, a third was merely injured and can point out the direction that the apes fled.

Ape, White x 7 [AC 3, Move 120' (40'), HD 4, hps 18, 14, 11, 16, 10, 6, 19, #ATS 2 (claw, bite) or 1 (rock), Dmg 1d4/1d4 or 1d6, SV F2, ML -1, AL N, XP 80; ACKS page 154].

The apes have no treasure, but their caves are littered with bones from both animals and humanoids, as well as the fresh corpses of the dead farmers, half-eaten.
