Waterday, 26th Wealsun, 591 CY
After lengthy discussion, the party decide to keep an eye on the goblins in the fort, then follow a patrol as the goblins head off to do whatever it is that goblins do, with the intent of ambushing the goblins and capturing one. The idea of lighting a fire to draw them out is initially vetoed, as is storming the fort; at least until they have a better idea of what is inside.
When a patrol of seven goblins heads off, to hunt, the party follow and get ahead of them, setting up an ambush around a clearing in the forest. The goblins, unaware and unsuspecting, walk straight into the ambush: within the first few seconds, three are badly wounded (Corvin and Halmary, and Zarkov with a cleave), another two killed (Zarkov’s first strike, and Ungrid charging in), and as the goblins struggle to realise what is happening, another falls dead (Corvin shoots an arrow between its eyes), one is slept by Zarkov’s command word and promptly tied-up, and Ungrid takes down another; and as the goblins try to fight back (failing miserably), the rest are quickly put to death; and only Idni failed to hit a single goblin.
Zarkov interrogates the captive goblin, who tells them that there are about two-dozen goblins inside the fort, along with some sort of alchemist. He is executed without discussion.

Having proven that ambushing is successful, the party try again. They head back to camp, wait another night, and in the morning follow a smaller patrol of goblins as they (presumingly) look for their missing comrades. These two are swiftly dispatched, but it seems that the goblins in the fort are now too scared or too cautious to send any more patrols out. The party wait two days, but when no more come out, they move to the edge of the forest and change tactics.
Sunday, Richfest, 591 CY
While the civilised world is celebrating midsummer, the party light a fire on the edge of the forest and wait for the goblins to react. They do so, sending a more cautious patrol to investigate: three goblins get as far as the clearing where the fire is, but don’t even have a chance to react when they are cut down by arrows and bolts, and a swing of Ungrid’s axe.
A few hours later, a pair of odd goblins are kicked out of the gatehouse, and shamble towards the fire. These have large swollen heads and seem almost feral. They stumble into the ambush, and a flurry of missile fire takes one out: it’s head explodes! A great burst of fire, that takes out the other swollen-headed goblin, whose head also explodes, this time in a blast of acidic gas; and which catches Idni, burning him with its touch. Thankfully, a tap with Zarkov’s Staff of Healing cures him.
The party put the fire out. They wait, but no more goblins appear. After an uneventful night, they decide what to do next…
End of Session
Kills: 12 goblins, 2 swollen-headed goblins.
