Against the Giants: Session Twenty

29 Jul

Moonday, Richfest, 591 CY

When waiting for more goblins fails to bring any more out of the fort, the party of goblin-slaughterers decide it’s time to take the fight to the fort. They sneak up at night, managing to climb through the ruined side wall, narrowly avoiding a sleepingĀ giant ferret, and disappearing into one of the towers: to discover a dwarf, an escaped prisoner called Cochin who they leave behind to pick up later.

Corvin climbs the wall, onto the walkway, and follow the goblin as he makes his patrol; Halmary follows him, and they manage to silence the goblin, plus another inside the tower (and counting coins) before any alarm can be raised. They throw a rope down and haul the others topside.

Tower-by-tower they advance, killing goblins that they encounter; then down into the gatehouse, where the goblins try to ambush them, even getting so far as surrounding them; but despite almost overwhelming odds, the adventurers prove more than capable of killing goblins wholesale, taking hardly any damage.

On the ground floor of one tower is a layer of soil, hiding caltrops, which Ungrid steps on; ouch, he is hobbled.

And that is where the session ended.

End of Session

Kills: 12 goblins.

A short report, as it was largely a sneak-kill-sneak session; poor rolls on the goblins meant that they were constantly being surprised, or their morale failed and they tried to run, only to be cut down. The party is getting into the swing of killing what are now low-level monsters; but how will they fare inside the fort itself? We’ll find out on Monday.
