28th Wealsun to the 18th Reaping, 591 CY (high summer)
With a cleric with a crushed ear (Halmary, -1 to Hear Noise and Surprise checks) and an explorer with a lame leg (Idni, 30′ base movement, lost his AC bonus from Dexterity), and several crates worth of treasure, the party of would-be resistance fighters haul their wounded comrades and their loot back to the surface and rest for the remainder of the day. In the morning they load up their goods, stick the injured on makeshift sledges, and follow the road back to Hochoch, cutting across the edge of the Dim Forest as they go; after two uneventful days they safely reach the city, and hold up in an inn for two weeks while Halmary and Idni recover.
As it happens, during their rest, it is the midsummer festival of Richfest, and during the festivities, the party decide to drink to their wealth and survival, and embark on a drunken spree: Halmary loses 400 gold in a succession of bad gambling; Idni makes a fool of himself and earns a reputation for a drunken lout; Ungrid narrowly avoids being drafted into some weird cult; while Zarkov and Corvin manage to have a fun week and suffer nothing worse than a couple of hangovers.
After a bit of training and paying their dues to the gods, the more experienced party* decide that it it time to deal with the giants: after much discussion, they make plans to track down and follow the monthly caravan that they know travels between the giant-held towns, passing their own Tika Town before heading off into the mountains beyond; a caravan that always returns empty of goods (ores, gems, food and timber mostly). As high summer begins, they purchase horses, ponies and supplies, and set out. They avoid the odd patrol, keep out of sight of giants, and arrive near to West Town, a week ahead of the caravan. Knowing where it will end up, they continue on, checking in with their small rebel army in their old cave, and then onwards into the hills, following an old trail up into the hills.
Three weeks and a few days after leaving Hochoch, they discover a walled encampment with three large caves, home to three very large (20′ tall) cloud giants, who sit down to a meal of roast sheep and barrels of ale. As evening falls, they make further plans, undecided whether to deal with the giants or just scout out the area…

Note: seems like a short session, but the first hour was spent levelling up, carousing, purchasing, and discussing where to go next. No fights this week, but they came close to attempting to take out the giants using their arrows of giant slaying. In the end they decided to use the potion of gaseous form they found to scout out the caves, which is something we’ll do via e-mail before the next session.*Corvin and Halmary are now level 4; Zarkov finally reaches level 3.
